These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Forked Software (“Throughline”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Throughline app and related services. By downloading or using Throughline, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
- Throughline is a paid app with a free trial. New subscribers get a 2-week free trial; after that it’s a recurring subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your Apple ID settings — cancel at least 24 hours before a period ends to avoid the next charge.
- Your notes are yours. You’re responsible for what you capture, and your content stays on your device by default.
- AI features are helpers, not professionals. Don’t rely on them for legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
1. The app and who can use it
Throughline is a voice-first tool for capturing and organizing your own notes and reminders. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) and able to form a binding contract. Using Throughline requires Sign in with Apple; an account is created automatically on first sign-in.
2. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
Throughline offers the following purchases through the Apple App Store. Prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase, may vary by region, and may change over time; the App Store always displays the current price and billing period before you confirm.

- Free trial. Eligible new subscribers receive a 2-week free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription and your payment method is charged. Trial eligibility is determined by Apple and is generally available once per subscription group.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before each renewal.
- Payment. All purchases are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple ID. We do not see or store your payment-card details.
- Managing and canceling. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription, or turn off auto-renew, in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and subject to Apple’s refund policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly. Requests go through Apple Support.
- Lifetime. The Lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks the app’s features for the lifetime of the app; it does not auto-renew. “Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of the Throughline product, which we may discontinue as described below.
- What a paid plan unlocks. A subscription or Lifetime purchase unlocks Throughline’s features, including the optional cloud-assisted features described in the Privacy Policy. Cloud features remain opt-in and consent-gated.
3. Your license to use Throughline
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Throughline on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or sublicense the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the notes, transcripts, and other content you create (“Your Content”). By default Your Content is stored on your device; it only leaves the device through the opt-in features described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own backups (the app provides an on-device export). You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the features you turn on (for example, processing de-identified text to power smart resurfacing).
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use Throughline to break the law, infringe others’ rights, store or transmit unlawful content, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our systems, or circumvent usage limits or security. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
6. AI-assisted features
Throughline uses on-device and (optionally) cloud AI to transcribe speech and organize your notes. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or miscategorized. Throughline is not a substitute for professional advice and should not be relied upon for legal, medical, financial, safety, or other critical decisions. Always review what matters.
7. Disclaimers
Throughline is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will fit your particular needs.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Forked Software will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Throughline. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Changes and termination
We may update, suspend, or discontinue features (or the app as a whole), and we may change these Terms; for material changes we’ll update the effective date above and note it in the app or by email. You may stop using Throughline at any time and cancel any subscription as described in Section 2. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms.
10. Apple App Store terms
These Terms are between you and Forked Software only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Throughline or its content. To the extent the App Store’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies, it also governs your use; where it conflicts with these Terms, these Terms control to the extent permitted. You acknowledge that:
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Throughline;
- if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (to the extent permitted), and otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation;
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or intellectual-property claims;
- you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on a U.S. prohibited-parties list;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
