I built Throughline because I wanted help organizing my scattered thoughts without handing my whole life to a giant AI company. That’s the bet behind everything here.
Powerful AI shouldn’t mean handing your life to a handful of big companies. Throughline’s whole reason for being is the opposite: your de-identified data trains a model that serves you — and is never handed to Anthropic or OpenAI as training fodder. The smarts work for you, not for someone else’s dataset.
Your personal details — names, places, numbers — are stripped off on your device before anything reaches the cloud, so the cloud only ever sees a de-identified version. You can opt out of data collection anytime. Nothing is sold, nothing is rented, and there are no ads or trackers riding along. Your data stays yours.
The end goal: our own small language model — cheaper to run, more private, and personalized to you. Over time it would mean the assistant gets smarter without your life leaving your control, eventually running right on your device. We’re not there yet — but it’s the direction every decision points toward.
The roadmap — not a shipped feature yetFurther out: an assistant that helps run your day and your workflows — built from your structured thoughts and your corrections, learning how you actually think. The point is to get that help without surrendering your life to big AI. An assistant that works for you, because it’s built from you and answers to you.
